Polaris General Snow Plows: What a Fair Price Looks Like

The General gingerly walks the line between a trail machine and a work machine, and a plow puts it firmly on the work side each winter. Three complete kits fit it here, opening at $749.99 with Denali’s Standard Series and topping out at $899.95 for SuperATV’s Plow Pro. A winch is separate on all three.

Choosing a Blade for a Polaris General

Straight blades here span 60 to 72 inches, and no V-blade is currently listed for the General. SuperATV takes a single-size approach with a 72-inch blade in 10-gauge steel and a cutting edge in tougher 4-gauge alloy, adjustable through seven angles and an attack angle between 52 and 65 degrees. Denali forms a 19-inch scoop from one sheet and sets its blade at a 65-degree attack angle to roll snow forward instead of dragging it. The three:

• Denali Standard Series: three widths pressed from a single steel sheet
• KFI: a Pro-S steel line and a dual-curve Pro-Poly, three sizes in each
• SuperATV Plow Pro: a single 72-inch width with vertical rib reinforcement

General Winch Setup and Plow Options

Plow duty wants a winch rated between 2,500 and 3,500 lb, with 6,000 lb the pick if you pull as well. KFI sells a General winch mount that sets the winch back behind the front bumper. Browse General winches alongside whichever kit you pick.

Angle control is the upgrade worth considering. KFI and Denali both sell systems you run from the dash, and Denali’s Hydroturn swings through its full radius in five seconds. KFI also lists side shields that widen a Pro-S blade by 2.25 inches each or a Pro-Poly by 5.6. Its Pro 2.0 push tube claims more than 30 inches of lift height, with three blade angle settings reaching 25 degrees.

General Plow Fitment: Models, Lifts and Tracks

General 1000 and XP 1000 Mounts

KFI builds one mount for the General 1000 and another for the XP 1000, and both need the stock front bumper left on. SuperATV takes a different path with a quick-connect plate you bolt on once and leave year-round, popping the blade off in minutes, and backs its plow with a three-year warranty. If you run a 60-inch KFI blade, note the 2-ply rubber flap is a separate purchase.

Lifted and Tracked Generals

KFI matches leveling kits to measured ground clearance, from 8.5 inches at the low end to 18 at the high. Denali instead sells push tube lift kits in 2- and 4-inch versions for skid-plated machines between 13 and 17 inches. Tracks call for more reach, so KFI extends the blade 10.33 inches and Denali switches to extended push tubes, which its lift kits do not fit.

Cold-Weather Gear to Add Alongside

• Windshields: the cheapest way to stay out of the spray
• Cabs: a General is open by nature, so an enclosure changes the job
• Heaters: worth adding after the cab goes on
• Tires: a snow-ready tread earns its price behind a blade

Buying Before the First Storm

Freight on plows drags from November into January. Order in early fall and there is time to fit everything and get a test pass in. Install PDFs come off most of these listings.

The most common warranty is between 3-6 months, but Everything Polaris General does offer extended 1- and 2-year warranties on all products if that is something you are interested in — you can add the extended warranty right at checkout.
