It’s Fall, and this is the time of the year when the air nips and we discuss, analyze, and simp on new models and different editions.

Polaris General line up is purposely designed and assembled as a cross between high performance of Polaris RZR and super utility of Polaris Ranger.

Often used as a workhorse and an all-out play machine, this versatile all-purpose lineup is getting some exciting new models for 2023.

In August, Polaris off-road announced great news for all you Polaris General fan girls, revealing that the 2023 lineup has three models and six variants.

We have some pretty exciting changes to look forward to, but first, let’s just have a quick ‘n short brief about Polaris Generals, the models they come in, and earlier variants.

Polaris General Past Models and Variants

In the 2-seat option, Polaris Generals come in 2 models: 

1. Polaris General 1000 (Base Model)

2. Polaris General XP 1000 (Flagship Model)

Besides these, Polaris releases special editions and variants like General 1000 Limited Edition 2018, General 1000 Deluxe RIDE COMMAND Edition 2022, etc. every year.

In the 4-seat option, Polaris Generals come in:

1. Polaris General 4 1000

2. Polaris General XP 4 1000

The General 1000 and the flagship model XP 1000, assembled as a hybrid between a utility and high-performance vehicle, have slightly similar specifications, features, and multiple editions/variants.

Polaris General 1000 and Polaris General XP 1000 both run on 100 Horsepower Polaris Prostar engines.

Both have the same cargo box capacity of 600 lbs and are equipped with half doors for protection.

But there are some major differences as well

For instance, Polaris General XP 1000 has a 64'' stance while General 1000 has 60”. Also, between the pair, there's a day and night difference in suspension, shocks, anda-arms.

The only Polaris General 1000 model for 2023, with a price starting from $18,199, is an affordable but highly capable base model. Equipped with a 600 lb. rated dumping cargo boxPolaris General 1000 gives the feel of a small pickup truck.

Good ground clearance of about 12”, 60” stance and armed with a sport chassis makes it a decent machine.

Among these three editions, there's no significant difference in key areas like suspension, tires, and brakes, etc.

But the General XP 1000 Ultimate is stocked with upgraded additional specifications like

Ride Command 7’’ touch display with features like Digital Instrumentation, Built-In GPS, Mapping, Vehicle-to-Vehicle w/ Group Ride, Follow the Leader, & Messaging.

Biggest Takeaways from Polaris General Line up 2023 Announcement

The new 2023 Polaris General model lineup has been pared down significantly as compared to 2022.

The only 60” stance variant they are keeping for 2023 is a two-seater Polaris General 1000 Sport.

Unlike 2022 when Polaris launched four editions of 2-seat 60” stance General 1000s and two editions of 4-seat Polaris General 1000 with 60” stance.

So, if you wanted to have a ride with your family in one of the new Polaris General 1000s, you’ll have to decide between the wife or kids, cause there ain’t no seats for everyone. 

Tough call, isn’t it?

Also, one important and nice thing to notice is that in 2022, the starting price of Polaris General XP 1000 (General XP Deluxe) was $26,999 

But probably the best news out of the entire 2023 lineup announcements is Polaris is going to release a Sport edition of Polaris General XP 1000 for the first time.

And that too, with a starting price of $24,499 now, the Polaris General Flagship XP 1000 model will now be more accessible to many riders tight on budget.
